Pre-Cana

"Love is patient, love is kind... It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things... Love never fails... but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away... So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love." - 1 Corinthians 13

There is nothing more beautiful and life-giving than a happy marriage. The benefits of healthy marriage go far beyond husband and wife, extending to their children and other family members, their workplace, their faith community, their wider civic community, and in fact, to all of society. Strong communities are built on successful marriages, and successful marriages begin with thorough preparation and must always have the three essential ingredients of faith, hope, and love.

As you learned when you met with your priest or deacon, among other documents required by the Church as part of the marriage preparation process is a Pre-Cana Certificate, an Engaged Encounter Certificate, or valid completion of a marriage formation program.

The Church of Saint Anselm offers a Pre-Cana Conference day twice a year. Pre-Cana conferences provide an experience of listening, as well as group discussions, through which a couple communicates and expresses their own feelings about marriage. Through the guidance of married couples and a priest or deacon, the couple internalizes certain basic concepts of Christian marriage. Times and locations can be seen by clicking HERE.
